Dog Trainers and Care Takers Course
Our 2012 Dog Trainers and Care Takers Course will begin on January 19th, 2012. We will be holding Tuesday and Thursday evening classes from 7pm-9pm. The entire beginners course is 3 – 16 hour sessions plus an audit of a 6 hour group obedience class and one or two Saturday field trips. Each session cost is $800. After you have completed the three sessions, you will receive a certificate in Dog Behavior and Training.
This course will include an in-depth study of how dogs think and learn,the inherent traits different breeds have, a variety of training methods, basic obedience training, teaching obedience classes, advanced training, scent work, tricks, retrieving etc., proper use of training equipment, problem solving behavior issues, identifying different types of aggression, puppy temperament testing, job opportunities, starting a new business, talking to customers, marketing and much more. There will be plenty of time for all your questions to be answered. This course is taught by trainers with many years of experience training thousands of problem dogs.
We keep the classes small so each students gets plenty a attention.
* Just a note that the classes are not every Tues and Thurs, due to the fact I have to work around my Search and Rescue Training/Meeting Schedule, so please note the dates.
Session 1 will be held on 1/19, 1/24, 1/26, 1/31, 2/2, 2/7, 2/9, and 2/14 (we can change this to the 16th if any one has objections to meeting on Valentines Day).
Session 2 will be held 3/13, 3/15, 3/22, 3/27, 3/29, 4/3, 4/5, and 4/10
Session 3 will be held 5/22, 5/24, 5/29, 5/31, 6/7, 6/12, 6/14 and 6/21
In addition we will take one or two field trips to dog shows. The two I’m considering are the Monroe Show 3/31 and 4/1 which is Obedience and Rally Obedience only and the Puyallup Show on 6/6 which is an all breed show and obedience.
The group obedience classes available for auditing are Monday nights from 7-8pm starting 2/20 and ending 3/26; Wednesday nights from 7-8pm starting 3/14 and ending 4/25 (skipping 4/4); and Wednesday nights from 7-8pm starting 5/9 and ending 6/20 (skipping 5/30).
