TRINA EDDY

Trina Eddy is currently co-owner and Vice President of A Canine Experience, Inc., dog and cat boarding and dog training facility. As an active participant in daily operations, she is responsible for training dogs, educating owners, teaching obedience classes, performing behavioral evaluations, obtaining and training employees, caring for dogs and cats, office operations, various projects and marketing.

Trina began training dogs in 1987 for a large training facility that specializes in rehabilitating dogs with severe behavior problems. She has always been very passionate about animals, was very involved in FFA and 4-H in her youth. She earned money to pay for her own horse by caring for neighbor’s pets, cleaning horse stalls and assisting in horse training beginning at the age of 13. Her animal training, handling and care taking experience is well rounded including horses, dogs, cats, goats, pigs, sheep, rabbits and poultry.

Trina Eddy studied under Nancy Baer, the trainer of trainers and author, since 1987. Together they have presented a variety of informational seminars for group functions, shelters, rescues, fosters and organizations. Trina continues to offer specialized workshops and mentors aspiring trainers develop knowledge and skill. An avid believer in continuing education, she also attends a variety of trainings, workshops and seminars and implements new techniques when applicable.

Trina has been teaching group classes and private lessons at A Canine Experience since 2005, helping hundreds of owners learn how to train, manage and better understand the behavior of their dog(s). She recently reconfigured traditional group classes to a membership based program, allowing a much higher level of participation, more training opportunities, a broader spectrum of learning and a lot more fun.

Trina is passionate about scent work and has trained dogs to search out drugs, explosives, mold, people, elk sheds, and personal items such as a cell phone and keys. She currently partners with her certified Wilderness Airscent dog, Glacier and Cascadia Search Dogs to look for missing people. She incorporates scent work and play into her obedience training, finding it to be a fun and successful way to build working relationships, lengthen dog’s attention spans and build confidence.

In 2017, Trina developed the Diabetic Alert Dog Progression Training Program to work as a partnership to develop these valuable teams. The program quickly expanded to help people train tasks to assist with other disabilities. It gives Trina gratification when she can use her dog training skills to help people with their many special needs.

Trina’s broad spectrum of business experience and education includes starting, growing, operating and selling businesses, several years in finance, business networking and marketing. She graduated from Central Washington University in 2000 with a BA in Business Administration, specializing in Finance, Management and Organization and a minor in Economics. Trina implements her life experiences and education to teach others who want to become dog trainers or start businesses as care takers (pet sitting, dog walk, veterinary work, boarding etc.).
